The Earth Element

Earth is passive and Yin (lee side of the hill). As an element it is solid, stiff, deep, slow, sinking, heavy, repressive, holding and fixed. Large intestine.The season represented by Earth is winter and its movement is downward. A naturally thick-set, slow, stiff person would typically embody the earth element. Its main connections with organ function and meridians is the stomach, spleen and large intestine. Postures that are deep and grounding are earth element moves, such as kiba dachi, tora dachi and hip stretches.
